Here’s Video Of The Announcement That Bill Parcells Was Somehow Snubbed By The Pro Football Hall Of Fame

No offense to Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin, or Willie Roaf – honest. Great careers, all. Happy for them for entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There’s a strong case to be made for each one. But seriously – no Bill Parcells? Did all the voters think that Onion story about Parcells hating football was real and get mad? This is the guy who won two Super Bowls, took the Patriots to another, and took two other franchises to the playoffs (oh, and also helped quickly turn around the Dolphins as an executive), right? Here’s the announcement – names right after the 1:35 mark:

Oh, and Cris Carter didn’t make it either. All he did was catch 1,101 career passes for almost 14,000 yards and 130 touchdowns (contrary to popular belief, he did much more than catch touchdown passes). That included eight straight years of over 1,000 yards and five seasons of 90 catches or more (he caught exactly 122 twice). Fourth in career receptions, eighth in yards, fourth in touchdowns. One has to think Parcells and Carter will get in eventually, but the fact that they’re still on the outside looking in – no matter how good the other candidates are – can’t be easily explained away.
