Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos Nailed A 53-Yard Field Goal, Probably Because He Plays For Real Madrid

Real Madrid is leading Celtic 1-0 in an exhibition match at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia right now in a highly anticipated match of the World Football Challenge. On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles squared off in their first preseason game, with the Eagles squeaking out a 24-23 win on an Alex Henry field goal. Speaking of field goals, many of the Real Madrid players were on hand to take in American football, and specifically the art of field goal kicking.

Many players, including Sergio Ramos, decided to try their hand at kicking, and to no one’s surprise, found a great deal of success. It’s a well-known fact that most field goal kickers are soccer flameouts, or at the very least fiscally knowledgable athletes who decided to take their talents to a much more lucrative sport (in America).

Well, Ramos proved on Thursday that he could have easily been a kicker, as he quite effortlessly knocked in a field goal from 53 yards.

Former european footballers are already making their way stateside after their careers die down in the top divisions (David Beckham, Thierry Henry), so the possibility of retired players transitioning to American football doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
