Replacement Officials Have More Trouble Calling Games, Speaking English Language

Oof. It is certainly going to be an uphill battle for the NFL’s replacement refs who not only have trouble making calls, but apparently forget which teams they are officiating. Craig Ochoa’s mistake of accidentally calling Atlanta “Arizona” wasn’t a really bad technical error — it didn’t affect the game in any way and we knew what he meant even if he wasn’t exactly speaking the English language perfectly. But it was an encapsulation of unease and nerves, which will certainly lead to questionable game-changing calls and miscalls in the future.

And more Internet infamy.
