Tom Brady Involved In Car Crash, Reportedly “Shaken” But Okay (Update)

Boston.com is reporting that New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was involved in a car accident this morning in downtown Boston. Claiming that the accident was “more than a minor fender-bender,” little else is known at this point, nor has Brady’s health been reported yet. Update: ESPNBoston is now reporting that Brady did not require hospital treatment and went to Gillette stadium.

Writing for Boston.com, Matt Pepin reports:

WEEI radio is reporting that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was involved in a two-car accident on the corner of Gloucester and Commonwealth in Boston this morning.

According to the report, it was “more than a minor fender-bender.” It involved a black Audi and a red minivan, and one car required emergency personnel to use a device to extricate the driver.

We’ll have more on the story as details emerge.

UPDATE #2: Brady participated in the Patriots’ walkthrough practice this morning. He’s just fine.

UPDATE: NECN.com reports:

Quoting sources that relayed the information to the Dennis & Callahan Show, the Web site reported that Brady was “shaken” but refused transport to the hospital. The report further stated that a pole was down at the scene and that the jaws of life were used by rescuers.

Later reports stated that Brady’s car, an Audi, was involved in a collision with a late-model red Ford minivan. The driver of the minivan was taken to Brigham & Women’s Hospital, according to WEEI, but Brady did not go to the hospital and was reportedly on his way to Gillette Stadium.

The report left unclear the time of the accident.

Update 2
– According to ESPNBoston, it appears that Brady is okay:

A source told ESPNBoston.com that Brady is now en route to Gillette Stadium. He did not require hospital treatment.

Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald told The Boston Globe that a sedan and a passenger van collided at 6:34 a.m. MacDonald told the newspaper that a traffic light was also struck.

Sources told The Globe that Brady was driving the sedan and was treated at the scene. Sources told the newspaper that Brady got out of his car but that the “Jaws of Life” had to be used to free a passenger in the van.
