Rush Limbaugh Is Concerned About Pink NFL Apparel (Audio)

It’s not Rush Limbaugh if he’s not saying something more or less to just get a reaction, and while some comments he made yesterday about women and the NFL are tame by the standards of where he sometimes goes, they contained just enough of that Rush-ness that we just couldn’t resist.

It actually started, he said, with an e-mail from a concerned female listener, who thought pink NFL apparel was all wrong for attracting women to the league. What she thought would attract women to football, Rush said, was if you “give Sarah Palin a moose gun and do a commercial,” since the type of woman who’ll be into football won’t be big on pink frilly things.

For Rush’s part, being the well-known force for unity he is, he said “there has to be some compromise.” Because, you see, while there might be “too much pink,” there’s also the fact that “good-looking women wearing an NFL jersey is cool,” and that we need a way for men to appreciate football and women: “There has to be a way to bring us all together.”

Rush sounded like he was doing this entire segment, if not tongue in cheek, then at least in a light-hearted way. Yeah, he did say we need to “[acknowledge] the role of attractive women to bring us beer and wear sexy clothes while we watch” football (Media Matters loved that one), but it seemed to all be part of a giant goof.

One thing that seems worth noting about pink NFL gear, however: much of it exists to promote/raise money for breast cancer awareness, which we’d say is a more than worthy reason for it to exist. Audio of Rush’s comments below.
