Sharper Tweets: ‘X Marks the Spot” on Favre’s Ankle; Vikings Not Amused
If you’re looking for a treasure trove of entertainment, mark Thursday, September 9th on your calendars; that’s the opening night of the 2010 NFL season, a rematch of the controversial NFC championship game between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, and apparently…
The date “where X marks the spot.”
So it has become after Saints safety Darren Sharper tweeted last Friday that Brett Favre‘s surgically repaired left ankle was a, uh, strong place of interest for the Who-Dat? defense.
As Sharper put it:
But just as a good tight end and offensive line are meant to do, Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe and LT Bryant McKinnie got their quarterback’s back, fighting Sharper’s fire with fire off their own.
Shiancoe, talking to members of the media on Thursday, responded:
“Sharper had surgery, too. And it was the knee. So if ‘X’ marks the spot on Brett, I wonder what would mark the spot on Sharper? I know which one it is. I know exactly which one it is.”
And after Sharper assigned some basic algebraic variables and then challenge Shiancoe to his game check–saying he’d hold the TE to under 3 receptions and 0 TDs–Bryant McKinnie spoke in Shiancoe’s stead:
As our own Glenn Davis talked about yesterday, the signs are pointing to a Brett Favre return. And if when he takes his first snap on Thursday, September 9th, we will all strike gold from an entertainment perspective.
The warning shots have been fired. X marks the spot.
