After He Taunted Tom Brady With This Photo, Richard Sherman Taunted Pats Fans With This Tweet

The Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, the 2011 5th-round pick who began his college career as a wide receiver but was converted to defense for his junior and senior seasons, is making a name for himself as one of the best young corners in the NFL.
He’s also making a name for himself as perhaps the NFL’s biggest young shit-talker.
After Sherman’s fantastic performance during Sunday’s 24-23 comeback win over the Patriots — he was all over the field, and his interception of Tom Brady with 4:52 left in the third was a key to Seattle’s win — he sought out the Patriots’ likely Hall of Fame quarterback. A photo of Sherman saying something to Brady was taken after the game, and it found its way to the young corner. A caption was then added by Sherman or someone else, and the artfully adjusted photo was then tweeted from Sherman’s account to his 17,000+ followers.

This internet shit-talking was in addition to the actual shit-talking Sherman did to reporters in the locker room after the game. And it’s here where we learn why, exactly, Richard Sherman, a player who has been in the league all but two years, decided to take a shot at a 3-time Super Bowl champion.
“I kept saying I’m going to get that next time. Every TV timeout, I went up and said it right to [Brady]: ‘Please keep trying me. I’m going to take it from you.’ That was when they were winning. He just gave me that look and said, ‘Oh, I’ll see you after game.’ Well, I made sure I saw him after the game.”
The photo has since been deleted. But two more interesting tweets subsequently showed up on Sherman’s timeline. One was another shot at Brady…
Brady sure looks like a man who turned the 12thMan against us twitter.com/RSherman_25/st…

…and the other, a shot at Pats fans.
Patriots fans mad lol… Talking bout Super Bowl rings…. What have u done lately? Oh ur 3-3 lol

The weird thing about this, to me, is that Sherman and Brady’s conversation seemed to be a respectful one. Look at this AP photo. The body language read I’m making on both guys is, “Yeah, I don’t necessarily like you, but good game or whatever.”

So it seems odd (and needlessly inflammatory) for Sherman to be taking a photo from this conversation — one where it looks like he’s talking trash to Brady — and put a little caption on it. Kind of makes it look like he was braver than he actually was.
It’s unlikely Brady would get another shot at Sherman any time soon — one is in the AFC East, the other, in the NFC West — but you have to believe he’s going at 25 early and often if their paths ever cross again. Richard Sherman is now a target.
But such is the fate of the young shit-talking defensive back.
