Tip For Jets Media People: Make Sure You Don’t Get Your Quarterbacks Confused

It’s the story you’ll hear about again and again as the NFL season approaches (and probably during the season, too), almost certainly to the point you’ll never want to hear it again: the story of the Jets’ quarterback situation. Mark Sanchez. Tim Tebow. The would-be Sanchize vs. the folk hero. The inconsistent one vs. the “can’t really throw at all but made some exciting plays late in games” one. It’s going to get beaten entirely into the ground, probably before Week 1 even starts.

But you can try tuning the Sanchez/Tebow situation/competition out if you don’t want to hear about it. You might not be entirely successful, but you can at least try to consciously avoid it. You know who can’t consciously avoid it? People covering the Jets. And judging by the unfortunate slip of the reporter below, the story’s already getting to be a little overwhelming:

Well, either overwhelming, or… we’d say something about a reporter who didn’t know who Tim Tebow was getting assigned to ask a question to Tim Tebow, but does anyone not know who he is at this point? That’s what’s going to make the Sanchez-Tebow debate so insufferable: it’s going to have nothing to do with football. People who couldn’t care less about football have Tebow opinions. You know what? We hope that reporter had no idea of the difference between Tebow and Sanchez. The QB controversy can’t become entirely ubiquitous of some people still don’t care. There’s hope yet.
