Vince Young Has An Epic Meltdown After Loss And Benching

We may have just seen the last of Vince Young in Tennessee.  Upset with coach Jeff Fisher’s decision to keep him on the bench due to injury, Young had himself a heck of a meltdown.

Young hurt his right (throwing) thumb in the third quarter of the Titans’ 19-16 loss to the Redskins.  After a tape job and experimenting with a glove to protect the injury, Young wanted back in the game.  Fisher was having none of it, opting to have rookie Rusty Smith (whose name sounds more fit for a NASCAR driver than a quarterback) finish the game under center.

How did VY react?  Let’s have The Tennessean take us on a little tour through Cuckooville:

Young, who was booed in the first half and injured in the third quarter, tossed his shoulder pads and jersey into the stands as he left the field. Tensions escalated in the locker room.

According to sources, Young was talking under his breath, uttering expletives, as Fisher prepared to address the team. When Fisher told him to keep quiet, Young finished dressing and started to leave. Fisher told Young to stop, saying not to “run out on your teammates.”

Young then told Fisher “I’m not running out on my teammates, I’m running out on you,’’ sources said.

Oh no he didn’t!

Current (and former college) teammate Michael Griffin allegedly followed Young out into the parking lot and tried to stop him from leaving the stadium, but with no luck.

Members of the local and national media are speculating that this latest episode could be the last straw for Young as a Titan.

Predictably, Fisher has decided that Young is no longer the starting quarterback in Tennessee.  Combine this incident with past instances of bizarre behavior, and its safe to say that Young’s days as a Titan are numbered.  Whether that comes this week or at the end of the season is anybody’s guess, but considering Young’s history with the team, don’t rule anything out.

He has been a disaster since day 1

The fact that he can’t take a single bit of criticism shows how unprepared he is for the NFL
