WATCH: Brian Urlacher Sums Up Glenn Beck Perfectly, Beck Dons His Jersey

Remember when Glenn Beck saw a picture of Brian Urlacher, remarked that he looked like “a neo-Nazi,” and you quickly dismissed it and thought, “Oh well, it’s Glenn Beck, he’s gonna say crazy stuff, what can you do?” Well, Urlacher himself wasn’t putting too much stock in it, either.

Late in Beck’s show today, he sported an Urlacher jersey. He referenced his earlier Urlacher comment, which he called a “meaningless stupid joke” blown out of proportion by “the blogs,” who “tried to get Urlacher to go after” Beck. Beck then praised Urlacher for having none of this, then showing Urlacher’s response on-screen:

“One of my buddies called me and told me I was going to think it was funny and it was funny…I think people blew it out of proportion…I don’t think the guy was being malicious. He has a show, he was being funny, and that’s it.

Emphasis ours, because we have to acknowledge that Brian Urlacher, in that one sentence, provided one of the most succinct, accurate distillations of the entire Glenn Beck ethos we’ve ever heard. The guy has a show, he says funny/crazy things, and people (on both sides of the aisle) make it out to be more than it is. (This has worked out spectacularly for Beck, though.)

Beck praised Urlacher’s quote as a “fantastic response,” laughed somewhat maniacally, and that was that. So let’s just say it – we agree whole-heartedly with Glenn Beck on this one. Good on Urlacher for seeing him as just a goofy guy with a show. Would that a lot more people did the same.
