WATCH: Two Year-Old Runs Over Referee With Golf Cart In Lackluster Display Of Vehicle Control
A high school football referee in Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the Springfield school district after he was run over by a little kid in a golf cart.
In October 2008, Kenneth Brooks was chatting with referees and setting up before a game, when surveillance video shows the cart accelerate off the sideline and make a beeline for Brooks. It’s actually kind of scary, as the cart literally hurtles him in the air before running him over.
Brooks says he suffered “permanent injuries” ( a disc hernation, concussion, occipital contusion and abrasion, cervical strain, lumbar strain and a calf abrasion, according the lawsuit) and is looking for $264,722.51 in damages from the school district. The boy’s mom is named in the lawsuit as well.
So, how did this rascally young hoodlum find himself behind the back of the wheel in the first place? Apparently, employees from the high school “left the golf cart unattended on the sidelines, with the key in the ignition.” Then this happened:
