A Hockey Player’s Interview Gets Interrupted By Excess Blood
Last night, Nashville Predators right wing Jordin Tootoo was on the wrong end of a high stick from Calgary Flames defenseman Scott Hannan…well, looking at it, we’re not sure whether it was more of a high stick or a high glove. Either way, it caught Tootoo right in the face, and judging by his reaction, it was not a pleasant experience. A shot time after, Tootoo joined Predators announcer Terry Crisp to discuss the incident, the fact that he didn’t retaliate, and the game (which ended in a 1-0 Predators loss) in general. However, Tootoo’s nose wound up saying the most of all:
Really, we’re kind of impressed Tootoo went ahead with this interview at all, considering the bleeding situation that was obviously not easily stopped. It’s clear he’s bleeding the whole time, but it’s really taken to another level when the camera cuts back to him after showing a replay at the 37-second mark, and blood is actually running down his face (which signaled to Crisp that the interview should probably end). We just hope no particularly media-unfriendly athletes watched this and thought, “Hey, there’s an idea!” and start punching themselves in the nose to get out of interviews. Considering how some such interviews go, we can’t totally count it out.
