Who Needs The NHL? Columbus Fans Turn Out For XBOX Simulation
In a show of how much NHL fans miss their sport, Columbus Blue Jackets bar, R Bar, in Columbus, Ohio, staged an XBOX 360 simulation of a Columbus-Vancouver game Friday night to the delight of Blue Jackets fans. Pretty fun idea to begin with, no? It gets better.
Around the beginning of the third period, the team’s radio announcers, George Matthews and Bill Davidge, showed up to call the game. Understandably, everyone went nuts.
Check out the video via Blue Jackets blog Arch City Army:
Kudos to R Bar and Matthews and Davidge for putting together such a great event for fans while the league does their best to alienate anyone who cares/cared/will care about professional hockey. Makes me wonder if the NBA can organize a televised simulation of the Dream Team against Team USA 2012 with, say, Marv Albert and Charles Barkley calling the game? Maybe in place of the celebrity game at All Star Weekend? Just an idea.
