A party ain’t a party until your quarterback tries to knee a cop and gets pepper-sprayed. That’s what happened to Fighting Irish signal-caller Tommy Rees last night on Notre Dame avenue, after South Bend police responded to a call about a loud party at 12:30 a.m.

Jordan Hill was coming into his own. A week ago, he had his best outing as a Laker to date, and opened the playoffs yesterday with a double-double against the Nuggets. But all that might be forgotten after an ugly accusation surfaced today.

For reasons that are still not entirely clear — though alcohol was clearly involved — Delmon Young was arrested early Friday morning for hurling anti-Semitic slurs and brawling outside his NYC hotel. This is really, really bad for all involved. Three Colorado State football players are currently suspended indefinitely as police investigate an alleged beating incident from over the weekend. That sounds bad. The details sound worse.

I was about to get all caustic here, regarding the recent DUI arrest of sports radio host Sid Rosenberg on charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license. I was all ready to go with angry sarcasm about how those sports talk radio hosts sure are “edgy” and “controversial,” am I right? But I couldn’t.

Although Petrino claimed that he was alone at the time, the Arkansas head coach was riding with a female companion last Sunday. The companion was named in the official police report: she’s a 25-year-old former volleyball player and recent Arkansas hire. Oh boy. More details after the jump.

This turned out to be a very confusing story: it’s either yet another case of racial profiling by the authorities, or a series of misleading tweets by a guy who should know better.
