Adam Jones Has Response To Boston Fan Who Called Him The ‘N’ Word

Yep. But the coward who threw racial epithets at Baltimore’s Adam Jones on Monday would have no chance, I’m surmising. RIP, Vito.

As you may know by now, Jones was the victim of racial slurs, and one Fenway Park fan even threw a bag of peanuts at him — causing no small uproar in baseball and on social media. What is this, eastern Europe?

Stephen A. Smith, in an atypical moment of measured clarity, said that it’s important not to paint an entire fan base, or race, with a broad brush over this, and that’s correct. But those Red Sox fans who are saying that the fan in question doesn’t represent them are wrong. He most definitely does represent you. That’s why it’s important to stand together and condemn this.

No, we don’t want to use a broad brush. But Red Sox fans still need to engage in some hard reflection here.

The “It’s just a few idiots” excuse holds no currency these days — not when you see quotes like above. Time to step up and solve this problem, Boston. Isn’t that what you’re known for?

UPDATE: Standing ovation for Jones at Fenway today.
