Besides being former governor of Florida, Jeb Bush (little brother of former president George Bush) is finally close to winning a race. And it could be because he has the help of former New York Yankee shortstop, Derek Jeter.
According to Douglas Hanks of the Miami Herald, the two big shots have agreed to team up in order to buy the ownership of the Miami Marlins against Wayne Rothbaum and any other potential buyer. Bush and Jeter, around this time last year, were originally competing against each other but it seemed to make more sense teaming up with one another, according to Miami Herald.
It sure is interesting to see Jeb Bush, a former presidential candidate in the 2016 election, take such interest in the sports world. I guess there is nothing like being a governor and owner of one of the biggest organizations in the MLB. Hey, if you can’t be the most powerful man in the world (the president of the United States), than why not be the most powerful man in Florida.
And Derek, don’t think I forgot about you. Being a Yankees fan it was hard enough to see you go. But making your way back into the sport of the baseball through the Marlins; it’s hard to watch. But hey, I get it. You’re Derek Jeter and you have to start somewhere. Even if that means buying a billion dollar organization. And in the words of the great Michael Phelps, “It is not about how you start, but how you finish.” So as a Yankees fan, I give you a pass, but as long at some point, Mr. Jeter, you come back to your be-loving fans in New York because you are truly missed.
But Marlins owner Jeffery Loria is ready to sell, and Miami baseball will have a new face or faces of its organization pretty soon.
