Last night was Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics, and it was a great one. John Wall dropped 40 points and dished out 13 assists and still did not have the most impressive performance of the night. Isaiah Thomas, who has been dealing with the tragic loss of his younger sister for the past three weeks, put on a show that NBA fans will not soon forget. He was unstoppable. Thomas scored 29 points in the 4th quarter and overtime and finished with 53 total.

The Celtics victory gave them a 2-0 lead in the series as they protected home court, but what made Thomas’ performance that much more special was that it was the birthday of his little sister.
“Today’s my sister’s birthday,” Thomas said. “She would have been 23 today. So the least I can do is go out there and play for her.”
Thomas was a bucket away from setting the all-time Celtics Playoff scoring record. The Washington Wizards had multiple double-digit leads throughout the game, but they were never able to sustain their play for long enough stretches. John Wall was very impressive too, but they just could not find a way to stop that of Isaiah Thomas.

The teams will head down to D.C for Game 3 later this week and the Wizards are always great at home, but the series as it currently stands is definitely in the Celtics control.
