It was only a matter of time before the Duke sex list made the jump from “online viral sensation” to “mainstream lightning rod for online privacy.”
This morning, the “Today Show” took a trip to the Duke campus to ask students about Karen Ownen’s “thesis.”
One interesting note: Donna Rice Hughes, an internet safety advocate, thinks that the players named in the thesis may have some room for recourse.
“There could be defamation and invasion of privacy [charges],” she said.
It was unclear against whom the charges could be filed.
UPDATE: Here’s NBC Chief Legal Analyst and SportsGrid founder Dan Abrams commenting on the Duke hullabaloo, and whether or not legal action is likely.
