Are you in high school? Good at sports? Love getting high? Well, you were almost in luck. After Colorado and Washington passed ballot measures Tuesday night approving the decriminalization of marijuana, it seemed that your college experience had the potential to be equal parts Tyrann Mathieu and Tyrann Mathieu. But the ultimate college dream is not to be.
No, college athletes in Colorado and Washington can’t have their cake and eat it too (nor would they even want to eat a whole cake now, you know, because they still can’t smoke weed), as the NCAA is sure to keep marijuana on its banned substances list. Plus, the age limit is 21 anyway, so most student-athletes wouldn’t be allowed to partake anyway.
As for the pros, the NFL wasted no time putting the kibosh on kush. Via Shutdown Corner:
“The NFL’s policy is collectively bargained and will continue to apply in the same manner it has for decades,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told USA Today’s Lindsay Jones on Wednesday morning. “Marijuana remains prohibited under the NFL substance abuse program.”
Lay off the goods all you Broncos and Seahawks! Save some for Peyton Manning’s newest customers! Damn, business is going to boom.
