So Chris Christie wants to replace the soon-to-retire Mike Francesa on WFAN — Christie leaves office in January, and is a noted sports fan.
But here’s an obvious drawback — Christie is also a noted Dallas Cowboys fan. How will that go over with the New York Giants-loving masses? Oh, and he also roots for the New England Patriots. Make a note of it, Jets fans.
Christie had an in-chair audition on WFAN on Monday, and even wore his Cowboys hat. But unfortunately he also wore his notoriously thin skin, which one caller — Mike from Montclair (aka Mike Goldstein) — took delight in poking.
“Governor, next time you want to sit on a beach that is closed to the entire world but you, you get your fat ass in a car and go to one that is open to all of your constituents, not just you and yours,” the caller said.
He’s referring of course to beachgate.
This provoked a fiery exchange in which Christie called Mike “a communist” and “a bum.” Mike responded by saying that Christie was a bully. “And I hate bullies.”
And here’s where Christie showed that he has a lot to learn. After Mike asked the governor “What have you done?”, Christie cut him off … then continued to rip him.
That’s a move straight from the bully playbook — it’s like punching a guy who can’t fight back. If you cut off a caller, then end the topic. Otherwise you look like you can’t handle the job.
