Soccer Star Cristiano Ronaldo Has Greatest Explanation Ever For Why He Got Booed

Cristiano Ronaldo has a lot going for him. He’s one of the best soccer players in the world, the star for a marquee team (Real Madrid). Oh, and there are seemingly about as many pictures of him shirtless as there are of him playing soccer floating around the internet, so he’s worshipped as a sex symbol, too.

So it comes as no surprise that Ronaldo has himself an ample ego…but that doesn’t mean it’s not hilarious the way he gets it across. Yesterday, Madrid opened its Champions League season with a 1-0 win over Croatian team Dinamo Zagreb. And while they did manage the win, Ronaldo himself came out slightly the worse for wear – he channeled Curt Schilling and finished the game with a bloody sock, and he was subjected to constant abuse from the hostile crowd (the match was in Croatia). Why does he get booed so? Why are opposing players allowed to rough him up and get away with it with referees? He has a simple explanation:

“I think it’s because I’m rich, handsome and a great player. They envy me – there’s no other explanation.”

Yeah, well that about covers it all right there. It either makes us wish Ronaldo were an American athlete or glad he’s not – that quote makes “the same personal problems” sound like nothing. And it definitely makes us wish we were Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Cristiano Ronaldo, that guy’s living the life!
