Incredibly Brave/Disgusting Soccer Player Bursts Hemorrhoids, Plays Entire Match Anyway

Remember how awesome Michael Jordan seemed for playing with the flu? That was child’s play compared to what Leo Ponzio of the River Plate soccer club put himself through. This man’s reaction says it all. Not for the squeamish, or those who don’t like seeing somebody bleed out of their anus and into their shorts.

Ponzio’s club, a second-tier Argentinian team, was taking on rival Boca Unidos when a case of hemorrhoids (which is when the vascular structures in your anal canal are inflamed) he’s been dealing with took a turn for the worse. Here’s what he had to say after the game (via Cosby Sweaters):

“It was weird what happened to me, because I had spent a week in which I had eaten well. In the meantime I had been fine, but after a move that threw me to the ground I opened myself more than usual and I started to feel the blood. I felt that something had broken.”

Uh… you think? Ponzio spent the rest of the 90 minute match looking like this:

And so, we finally encountered a man who is as courageous as he is gross. Ugh. Let’s go watch some basketball.
