The Chairman Of A Soccer Team Compared The Rebuilding Of His Club To Sex
Fans of the soccer club Leeds United haven’t been happy with the way that chairman Ken Bates has been running the team lately, and as such, have decided to protest his involvement with the team, asking for him step down.
Naturally, Bates hasn’t responded to the criticism well, calling the disgruntled fans “morons.”
“I’m saying I’m unimpressed by the demonstrations of a few morons on Saturday and ain’t going anywhere soon. Some fans may not like me, or agree with me, but you’re stuck with me.”
But while any team figure calling a part of his fan base morons would be worth a post on its own, the comparison that Bates uses to describe the state of his team is what really makes this story interesting.
“I saved your club in 2005 and 2007 when nobody else would. The rebuilding of Leeds United is a bit like sex. In an age of instant gratification, Leeds United is having a long, drawn-out affair with plenty of foreplay and slow arousal.”
Sounds about right. Although after six years without any semblance of gratification, it’d be easy to understand why Leeds’ fans are getting a little fed up with the 79-year-old’s foreplay.
