Tim Howard And Guillermo Ochoa Somehow Left Out Of Best World Cup Goalkeeper List

  • Jake O'Donnell

Hmm, we’ll try and say this politely…

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT NOMINATE TIMMY HOWARD AND MEXICAN GK GUILLERMO OCHOA FOR THE GOLDEN GLOVE AWARD?!?!?!?!?!?!

FIFA is complete bullshit.

Ok, we get it — Navas helped Costa Rica keep clean sheets in three of their five matches, only allowing two goals all tournament. Moreover, Sergio Romero and Manuel Neuer — who is possibly the best keeper in the world — will be playing in the final thanks to their ability to keep soccer balls out of their net-zone. But how on Earth do they not have nods for either Ochoa or Howard?

Did you see Ochoa play against Brazil or the Netherlands? What about Howard setting the all-time World Cup record for most saves in a game (16)? They most certainly deserve a nod — even if their teams didn’t advance past the Round of 16.

For comparison, the Golden Ball — awarded to the tournament’s best player — has 10 players. And five of them play on the same team! Dude, it’s one thing to limit the number of nominees for best young player in the tournament, because that’s arbitrary — but goalkeepers are undeniably deserving of their own award and a reasonable amount of nominations.

We’re pissed. Tell us who you think should get the Golden Glove in the poll below:
