Watch The Goals That Put The U.S. In The Women’s World Cup Final


Despite striking first against France in the Women’s World Cup semifinals today, the United States was in trouble in the second half. France’s Sonia Bompastor beat Hope Solo to equalize the match in the 55th minute, and at that point France, who controlled the ball for 55 percent of the match, simply looked like the better team. Here’s Bompastor’s score:

But if there’s one thing we know about the U.S. women at this point, it’s that they are not an easily rattled group. And who showed up to give the Americans the lead back in the 79th minute but one Abby Wambach. It was her third goal of the Cup. Here it is:

And they weren’t done. Just a few minutes later, 22-year-old Alex Morgan provided the capper with a fantastic score of her own, beating a group of charging French defenders – and ultimately, keeper Berangere Sapowicz – to finish off the French. Video of that score below. The U.S. plays either Sweden or Japan in the final on Sunday. You shouldn’t miss it. TAKE THAT, FEINSTEIN.
