Hey, I’d be a little discouraged too if I was the butt of Jets’ fans japes barbed insults on Thanksgiving, but if I’m the guy making millions of dollars a year playing pigskin, maybe I would’ve taken a different route in my response to the fans’ disappointment if I were Bart Scott.

Athletes constantly have to answer inane questions from beat reporters poking and prodding them for headline-grabbing quotes. Bart Scott, noted mutinous rebel boycott specialist, let his emotions boil over today in an incident with Dan Leberfeld of Jets Confidential. And by boil over, we mean puffing out his chest and threatening to punch Leberfeld.

In a recent interview with the New York Daily News, Jets linebacker Bart Scott was particularly adamant about his son’s future athletics career: no football. Coming from one of the more intense linebackers the NFL has seen over the last 10 years, this may seem surprising. But Scott puts the health of his child first.

So, the Jets lost yesterday. That loss assured the team of not reaching the playoffs. The Jets are really, really not happy about this, and that’s to be expected. But the Jets do things – including anger – bigger and louder than most teams.
