Arian Foster’s New Twitter Avatar Is An Excerpt Of A Dan Shaughnessy Article Blasting The Texans
Noted anti-social media enthusiast Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe is back at it again, folks. In a column posted yesterday about the Patriots’ divisional round matchup with the Houston Texans, he pretty much goes to town on the Texans for being an awful football team. Arian Foster disagrees, so he made a section of the article his Twitter avatar.
After 44 Years, Bob Ryan Retires From the Boston Globe
Bob Ryan posted his farewell column on the Boston Globe’s website today, ending a 44-year career as one of the most famous sportswriters of the 20th century. He started back as an intern in the summer of 1968, and worked his way up to national prestige and respect.
Watch Bob Ryan Recite Every Little Detail About Each Second Round Pick In The 1972 NBA Draft
Just as the Giants are the champions of the NFL and Novak Djokovic is the number one tennis player in the world, so too is Bob Ryan the best in the field of NBA history. Respect, Bob. Props. Swag.
Like A Proud, Oversharing Parent, Boston Globe Embarrasses PGA Champ Keegan Bradley
Keegan Bradley had a great first date with America yesterday. The 25-year-old rookie won the PGA Championship in exciting playoff fashion, and his exuberance was generally a hit among fans. The first date went well. Mostly.
Bradley is a native of New England, and the Boston Globe was sure to point this out. On the front page of today’s paper, they went with the headline, “Hopkinton’s Bradley wins PGA.” This is all well and good, because it’s understandable that they’d want to point out that a native son just won his first major. Â Then, they started going through the photo album.
Surprise! Crotchety, Trolling Columnist Dan Shaughnessy Isn’t A Twitter Fan

Today, The Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy penned a classy tribute to Myra Kraft, the wife of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft who died of cancer yesterday. People had only glowing things to say about Myra Kraft and the way she devoted her life to giving back, and Shaughnessy received some praise for the way he fleshed out her generosity.
Unfortunately, this side of Shaughnessy is one we see all too infrequently. More often, he’s smug, sanctimonious, and sometimes, deliberately ignorant. But might the Kraft column have been a sign of a new Shaughnessy? Alas, based on a piece published just yesterday, it doesn’t look that way.
Who Lost The Most Over The Sal Alosi Tripping Incident?
New York Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was suspended and fined $25,000 for deliberately tripping Miami Dolphin Nolan Carroll as Carroll raced down the sideline on a punt during Sunday’s game. Who was the biggest loser in this story?
Pete Carroll Wanted To Start His Own Football TV Network
The Boston Globe ran a profile of Seattle Seahawks (and ex-New England Patriots) coach Pete Carroll yesterday. It was perfectly fine, but the most interesting insights from Carroll were found in an online-only addendum the Globe also posted.
