It already hasn’t been a great summer for love, but the news that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson and his wife Evelyn Lozada had a violent fight that resulted in the cancellation of the couple’s forthcoming VH1 reality show, a trip to the hospital for Lozada, and Johnson’s firing from the team, was genuinely shocking. UPDATE: It’s also led to their divorce.

According to the Ochocinco News Network, the Miami Dolphins are taking a chance on six-time Pro Bowler Chad Ochocinco, who caught just 15 passes last year for the New England Patriots. There are many reasons why Ochocinco and Miami agreed to join forces, and the HBO show Hard Knocks is not the least of them.

When Chad Ochocinco ws traded to the New England Patriots last year, he was ecstatic, tweeting, “God is so good.” Unfortunately for both sides, that was where the Ochocinco-Patriots relationship topped out, and now it’s over.

Chad Ochocinco was apparently robbed. A person or persons unknown broke into his vehicle and, according to the receiver, took his iPod and his wallet. But the credit cards, the drivers license, the music — that’s nothing. Chad was really, truly broken up about one item in particular that he lost, and we feel his pain.

We are only two episodes into the fourth season of “Basketball Wives,” but it is already clear that the Wives fall into two camps, or teams, if you will: the wives who are dedicated to willfully misunderstanding how the world/technology works, and the wives who are concerned about anything else.

I watch a lot of reality television, but I stayed away from Basketball Wives because I thought it looked pretty indistinguishable from the many reality franchises with “Wives” in the title.
