Outside the Lines devoted its program today to the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins’ name. The panel the show assembled to discuss the issue didn’t agree on everything… but did at least say one thing all of us can rally around.

For years, coach hirin’, free agent spendin’ Dan Snyder has hapzardly thrown money at the Washington Redskins, hoping – really, praying – that something would stick. It rarely did. But in 2008 particularly, Snyder screwed up because his GM forgot that Dan Snyder needs to be kept from being Dan Snyder.

Good weekend for Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder. Yesterday, his team opened its 2011 season with a 28-14 win over the division rival New York Giants. And the day before, Snyder took his most significant action to date in his absurd lawsuit against the Washington City Paper over this piece: he ended it.

When Dan Snyder sued the Washington City Paper over a highly unflattering story about Snyder’s highly unflattering tenure as owner of the Washington Redskins, everyone seemed to realize Snyder was making a mistake except Snyder himself. Well, not so fast – Snyder might realize he made a mistake, too.
