In possibly the most un-American story we’ve come across today, the mother of a Little Leaguer was fired from her job as an office manager for a CPA when she chose to take off from work and cheer on her son’s team in the West Regional. The details, after the jump.

The team from Japan just wrapped up the Little League World Series with a 12-2 mercy rule victory in the fifth inning over Goodlettsville, Tennessee to secure the championship. Although Japan cruised the whole way, the win didn’t come without a bit of pain. In the top of the fifth, an unfortunate foul tip caught the Japanese catcher in his nether region, causing him to gingerly amble towards the foul ball as he held his nuts. Good thing that magic soccer freeze spray was on hand!

You know that hill beyond center field at the Little League World Series, the one that kids (and sometimes adults) slide down on pieces of cardboard? Well, ESPN’s Jenn Brown decided to give it a go, because it can’t be that hard, right? So she put on the proper sneakers, showed us her game face and went for a slide. We even got a bit of that on-board cam, which may or may not make you dizzy.

When the Little League World Series was just getting underway, we shone a spotlight on the Japanese team’s top (or at least most eye-catching) player, Kotaro Kiyomiya. The immediate reason Kiyomiya jumps out at you is size – but the more important reason is skill, as he amply demonstrated against Panama today.

The Little League World Series continued today on ABC, with Goodlettsville, Tennessee taking on Petaluma, California. In the bottom of the third inning with Tennessee leading 4-3, ABC cut to some retro footage tangentially related to the game, but directly related to our viewing pleasure: the World Wristwrestling Championship.

We just posted on massive Japanese Little League pitcher Kotaro Kiyomiya, the 13-year-old who can throw 80 miles per hour (the major league equivalent of 104MPH). While we were in the process of writing that post, Kiyomia accidentally drilled Curacao’s Ceddanne Rafaela in the head with the equivalent of a 99-mile-per-hour pitch. The “pop” was audible.

Japan, always a strong competitor in the Little League World Series, has a man-child pitching today who is probably instilling fear in all the small baseball players in Williamsport. The details, after the jump.
