When Mariano Rivera tore his ACL last season shagging fly balls, there was a moment when we all assumed his hallowed career had come to an unceremonious end; no playoffs, no glitz, no glory. Well, Mariano Rivera ended speculation about whether his career was over pretty quickly, didn’t he? Even into this afternoon, his career ending as a result of his freak in jury last night seemed like a distinct possibility. No more… and Rivera wants us all to know it.

After suffering a devastating  injury to his knee, Rivera had to give a devastating interview to reporters — one in which he was as sagely and dignified as ever, even in the face of overwhelming disappointment.
