The NCAA announced today that former senator George Mitchell, who famously completed the “Mitchell report,” will be Penn State’s integrity monitor over the next five years. The details after the jump.

On the heels of Mark Emmert announcing the NCAA sanctions toward Penn State, the Big Ten also announced how it will punish the school in the wake of its scandal. The details after the jump.

Joe Paterno’s reputation and legacy have taken an absolute beating over the past week, and now, some of that beating will be reflected in the record books.

Penn State football as it was is dead and buried, at this point – I can’t imagine many parents wanting to send their kids to the scandal-embroiled school, espcially when recruits of Penn State’s (former) caliber probably have multiple offers on the table anyway. It would seem difficult, then, for the NCAA to hurt the program further – the damage has been done.

“What about Penn State’s future?” seems to be a popular question to ask these days. Well, according to Big Ten officials, that future might not include their storied conference.

The University of North Dakota is wearing the jersey above as they have been banned from wearing the Fighting Sioux name and logo on their equipment in NCAA sponsored tournaments. Some UND fans decided to make a statement by buying commercial time during an NCAA Hockey Tournament simulcast.

PBS’ Frontline will air “Money and March Madness,” which investigates the “multi-billion dollar business of the NCAA and its brand of amateur college sports.”

The CBS-NCAA television deal used to force viewers to watch whatever game CBS chose, but now fans can watch whatever they want..unless they don’t have cable.
