Not every team’s Midnight Madness celebration was a complete travesty like it was at Syracuse University. Plenty of colleges were able to have fun. But perhaps no team had as much as the Michigan State Spartans, who welcomed their fans to the 2012-13 season with the help of coach Larry Izzo in an Iron Man costume.

By the end of Michigan’s 41-14 blowout loss to ‘Bama, you were in a depressed mood if you’d gone to the bar in a Denard Robinson jersey. Michigan State, on the other hand, was the opposite of depressed. They were downright giddy, in fact. Their reactions (which have since been taken down) after the jump.

Michigan State center Derrick Nix is a big man – 6-9, 270, to be exact. You don’t want to be on his bad side – not even if you’re an inanimate object. And the basket at today’s Big Ten tournament game between Green’s Spartans and Iowa found that out the hard way.

Michigan State handily defeated Florida State last night, 65-49, delighting the East Lansing home crowd. One moment during the first half, though, proved far less delightful: during one early timeout, MSU cheerleader Taylor Young took a nasty fall.
