Rory McIlroy started off the third round of the PGA Championship well today, knocking in two birdies on the first two holes. But on No. 3, McIlroy’s tee shot went astray, missing the fairway left. Except the ball never landed, and everyone crowded around a leafless tree trying to find the damn thing.

The PGA Championship is underway, which means another boring four days of golf awaits us. I’ve tried to get into watching golf in the past, and it can be entertaining at times, but for the most part, golf is a bit of a sleeper.

Keegan Bradley had a great first date with America yesterday. The 25-year-old rookie won the PGA Championship in exciting playoff fashion, and his exuberance was generally a hit among fans. The first date went well. Mostly.

Bradley is a native of New England, and the Boston Globe was sure to point this out. On the front page of today’s paper, they went with the headline, “Hopkinton’s Bradley wins PGA.” This is all well and good, because it’s understandable that they’d want to point out that a native son just won his first major.  Then, they started going through the photo album.

This could be all the encouragement Tiger Woods needs to get him going as the second round of the PGA Championship is underway.

Tiger Woods shot a career-worst 7-over 77 in the first round of the PGA Championship today, and naturally everyone had something to say about it.

The PGA Championship starts tomorrow, and as usual, all eyes will be on Tiger Woods. And even though Tiger’s recent results on the course suggest he won’t hoist the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday, this photo at least reassures us that he’s trying as hard as ever to make it happen.
