Prince Fielder

MLBWeird But True

Let’s Try To Caption This Photo Of Little Prince Fielder Looking Like A Chubby Lil’ Frontrunner

It’s Prince Fielder’s birthday today, so you know what that means: It’s time to look at pictures of him when he was just the chubby little son of Cecil Fielder. Oh jeez, he’s so freakin’ adorable. And look at what he’s wearing, with his little Detroit Tigers hat and his… New York Football Giants t-shirt? And his… Chicago Cubs pants?

More From ALCS Game 4: Watch Phil Coke And Prince Fielder’s Spectacular Celebrations (Video)

About those Tigers. A stellar performance all around. And man, they were really feeling it when Phil Coke got Jayson Nix to pop up for the last out. Prince Fielder started calling off his teammates like a rhythmic gymnast and Phil Coke spiked his glove like it was jungle juice at one of them fraternity parties. Watch after the jump.

It’s Always An Adventure When Prince Fielder Slides

In the bottom of the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels last night, Prince Fielder cracked a would-be double down the right field line. As he chugged for second base (kudos to the camera crew for zooming in on his pained running face), Fielder couldn’t quite decide whether or not to slide. So instead he just kind of collapsed right at second base, flailing with his left arm to stop himself from overrunning the bag. Except it’s hard to stop the momentum of 275 pounds on a dime, so Prince meandered (read: tumbled) well beyond the bag and was tagged out.

Cecil Fielder Slams His Son Prince Fielder In An Attempt To “Take The High Road”

It’s no secret that former big league slugger Cecil Fielder and his son, newly-minted multi-millionaire Prince Fielder, have a strained relationship. But you have to imagine that it’s not going to get much better if Cecil continues to air their family grievances in public.

The dysfunction began sometime after Cecil retired from baseball, when he admittedly gambled much of the families’ money away and, ugh, stole about $200,000 from his son after he inked his first big league contract.

Prince Fielder Was A Very Large McDonald’s Pitchman In His Youth

The free agent courtship of Prince Fielder ended in surprising fashion today, as the first baseman inked a nine-year, $214 million deal with the Detroit Tigers. As the Tigers were the team with which Prince’s (estranged) father, Cecil, made his name, there’s been a lot of young Prince-Cecil reminiscing today…the best of which can be found in the commercial after the jump.

“Buttload” Does Not Begin To Describe How Much Money Prince Fielder Just Got Paid

Per Yahoo’s Tim Brown, Prince Fielder is going to sign with the Detroit Tigers, and he’s going to. be. paid. The deal is for 9 years and worth $214 million(!), as Fielder will form a scary back-to-back duo with Miguel Cabrera in the Tigers’ lineup. It took him awhile to complete a deal, reportedly due to shifts in market value… although other theories have been floated. [Tim Brown, photo via]

“Hey Bro, Remember That Time I Almost Died?”: Fan Almost Falls Over Fence Going After Home Run Derby Ball

During the second round of last night’s Home Run Derby, Keith Carmickle and his friends got greedy. They had already snagged home run balls from eventual finalists Robinson Cano and Adrian Gonzalez, and when Prince Fielder came to the plate, they wanted to snag another.

So a barefoot Carmickle got on top of a narrow table 20 feet above a right field pool deck. Which would have been a dumb idea to begin with. But when you throw in the fact that, just last week, a firefighter in Texas named Shannon Stone fell to his death after tumbling over a Major League fence, and it was really dumb.
