Yesterday, Theo Epstein was introduced as the new general manager of the Chicago Cubs. To many Cubs fans, Theo offers salvation: the young, good-looking baseball executive that will rid the roster of bloated contracts (Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Zambrano), build a team that will compete in October consistently, and win the club their first World Series in over a hundred years. He will save Cubs fans.

All of them, apparently.

Pardon The Interruption celebrated its ten-year anniversary last week, and to commemorate that, the show’s official YouTube channel put together a compilation of their favorite openings. There’s plenty of sarcasm, costumes, and robot dances, but mostly, there’s plenty of allusions to sex by or between Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon.

We’re big fans of “Get Out of My Face,” the Onion’s series of web-only sports spoofs that draw largely from shows like PTI and Around the Horn. Like we said before, the reason it works is because it’s short: it throws a lot of funny things at you very quickly, then leaves before any momentum is lost.

“Get Out of My Face,” The Onion’s satire of PTI (and every sports-shouty show ever), is everything their ill-fated Comedy Central show Onion SportsDome, and the similarly short-lived Sports Show with Norm MacDonald, should have been.

Oftentimes, a Pardon the Interruption segment will require Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon to wear ridiculous things, but that’s not always the end of the weirdness.

There was some intriguing sports storyline fodder for Pardon The Interruption today, but the best line happened while debating an ultimately meaningless play from Duke-Arizona last night.

Earlier, we told you about BYU star Jimmer Fredette’s appearance on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated, and noted that the ups he displayed made him look superhuman. Well, Kevin Blackistone thinks the cover may have been “photoshopped.”
