For an evil guy, Darth Vader had a lot going for him back in the day. Tons of power. An intimidation factor that was off the charts. A connection with the Force that rivaled anyone’s, and even ultimate redemption. Pitching skills, however, were not part of the deal.

The New York Mets are in the midst of another season to forget. They’re 71-77, they’ve been feuding with Major League Baseball, there was that whole Bernie Madoff connection – the team hasn’t given fans much to be excited about. Unless, that is, they’re also Star Wars fans.

When the New York Post designed a special Star Wars pullout cover in advance of the Jets’ playoff win over the Patriots earlier this year, we had a hard time imagining it could ever be topped. Well, maybe it hasn’t been topped…but we still didn’t expect to see another one so soon.

The hacker placed photos of the soccer star alongside images of the terrorist leader and the Star Wars character, alongside a crudely-worded message.

Earlier today, we lavished well-deserved praise on a New York Post pullout cover previewing Sunday’s Jets-Patriots playoff game…that also happened to fantastically pay homage to Star Wars. Well, would you believe the artist behind the cover isn’t even all that familiar with the Star Wars franchise?

In our nearly eight-month history of writing about, among other things, New York Post (and Daily News) covers, we’ve seen some doozies. But we have never seen one like this.

We all love the cantina scene from Star Wars.  We all love random celebrity cameos.  And I think we can all agree that there’s nothing cooler than the idea of Snoop Dogg wielding a lightsaber. And if you do agree – we’ve got the clip for you!
