Forbes released a totally arbitrary, yet still plausible list of the 10 most overpaid players in the NFL in 2012. Of course, it’s not an exact science, especially with the way the NFL’s pay structure is set up to avoid such overcompensation as Forbes notes, but it’s a believable bunch. And what would a list reeking of disappointment be without a healthy dose of the New York Jets?

Vernon Davis and Rob Gronkowski may be two of the premier tight ends in the NFL, but their skills weren’t on display during two touchdown celebration moments on Sunday.

It looks like Vernon Davis wants to make sure he doesn’t jinx his San Francisco 49ers this weekend in their NFC Championship matchup against the New York Giants. After having been named the host of a post-game party, Davis has pulled out of the event to keep from seeming as if he’s “looking past” Sunday’s game by being a part of what’s assumed to be a celebratory party.

It’s been a long, strange journey for Vernon Davis and the 49ers. And the next stop is the NFC championship.
