Former Tennis Rivals John McEnroe And Björn Borg Join Forces To Launch Underwear Line

Once the fiercest of rivals on the court, tennis icons John McEnroe and Björn Borg are collaborating to launch a limited edition collection of jersey boxer briefs.

[insert obligatory "You cannot be serious" joke here]

The new line, available in August, will pay tribute to the “Golden Age” of tennis in the 80′s and will feature 100 pieces of men’s underwear in four styles — two designed by each player. According to McEnroe:

“One [style] is colorful and the other is tighty whitey.…I wear short boxers myself.…I think it’s good to express yourself with fashion. I thought the [tennis] clothes we wore back in the day were great. I always liked the short shorts, but nobody seems to agree with me.”

Indeed, Johnny Mac always took some flak for his short shorts, but we’d argue that nowadays anything is better than watching Rafael Nadal dig his signature capris out of his derrière.

The McEnroe-Borg underwear collaboration will also include an online charity auction that features memorabilia and one hour of “ball time” with each legend. Four percent of the proceeds will be donated to the John and Patty McEnroe Foundation.

Borg is no stranger to the world of undergarment design, having been in the business for over two decades. In fact, his company has since expanded and now boasts sportswear, swimwear, socks and accessories.
