I hate to break this to you, but pro wrestling results are determined ahead of time (I’m talking to you. mom). This seems obvious, but many are not aware … or refuse to face it. I hesitate to call them “fixed”, because that implies cheating. The WWE and their brethren assume that fans are hip to the program, and consider their product no more deceptive than going to the movies.
I agree. Going to the WWE match is no different than seeing the The Lone Ranger or The Dark Knight, only I tend to get less furious at John Cena than I do at Johnny Depp. “The Joker cannot win” … but CM Punk occasionally does.
So a Reddit user called Dolphins1925 has been posting WWE results ahead of time, and so far he’s never been wrong. Record: 38-for-38. The Telegraph:
Dolphins1925 posted on Reddit’s pro-wrestling forum after another fan launched a “prediction series”, asking users for their picks ahead of the matches. He has since maintained a perfect record, even leaking the results of contests involving wrestling superstars such as John Cena and The Undertaker.
He insists he does not work for WWE. “I am just a WWE fan like everyone else, and I am getting my information from a source who has VERY credible inside information regarding the outcomes (win/losses) of the matches themselves.
“Given that this information is out there, we both feel that I should continue to share this information until it garners the attention of WWE.”
He accused WWE management of failing to take “reasonable measures” to protect its plotlines.
Dolphins1925 says that certain inside individuals have been leaking WWE results for their own gain, and he wants the company to tighten their ship, or he’ll keep leaking winners to the general public.
“We may have a modern day Nostradamus on our hands,” WWE told Deadspin.com. “We might have to monitor these posts in advance of our next pay-per-view to see how good he or she really is.”
That next event is next month’s Summer Slam and Dolphins1925 has yet to give his predictions. Though, when he does, they’re sure to get the most attention of any he’s made to date.
Of course we’re looking for WWE to flip the script at the last minute to discredit the leaker. But all in all, they don’t seem too concerned about it. After all, when the Raiders play the Packers, we all know who’s going to win. The entertaining part is seeing how it happens.
