We’re Pretty Sure This Is The Most Out-Of-Control High School Hockey Brawl You’ll See Today

The scene below broke out earlier this week in Peterborough, Ontario, after Kincardine High School scored on rival Holy Cross late in a round-robin tournament game. The outcome wasn’t in doubt (Kincardine won 4-1), and apparently, Keegan McLelland, the player who scored the last goal for Kincardine, was especially pleased about that. He celebrated the goal by taunting Holy Cross goalie Aaron Poast. From there, this happened:

We suppose the general one-on-one nature of hockey fighting lends itself to scenes like this – where rather than a single out-of-control mass like one might expect in, say, a basebrawl, you get many smaller fights breaking out all over the ice. Possibly even harder to break up, since it’s so decentralized… and in a way, sort of a spiritual opposite to the famous Miracle on Ice photo, where players seemed to break off into a bunch of small clusters rather than form one mob. Either way, not exactly a scene either team wanted to see – though judging by the sound, the spectators seemed okay with it.

coming from a mother that was there….did mclelland over celebrate the goal…maybe….did he deserved to be jumped from behind as he skated to his bench… not…. celebrating and taunting not the same thing… in front of 200 homer fans you may celebrate a win more then normal also…the real problem is when a kid gets unexpectedly cross checked from behind from a kid skating fast as he can down the ice at him…he could’ve been seriously injured…fighting may be a part of some hockey games… shouldn’t be highschool for sure..but getting attacked/jumped from behind is gutless and does not have a place in any sport!!!   from mama bear!!!
