Was Juan Manuel Marquez Naked And Using A Sombrero To Cover His Groin During This Interview?

Juan Manuel Marquez lost a tough majority decision to Manny Pacquiao Saturday night, with judges scoring it 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112. The fight itself won praise, but this is boxing and something always has to ruin everything. In this case, it was that the decision was controversial: some thought Marquez should have won, while at the very least, 116-112 was generally regarded as far too lopsided in favor of Pacquiao.

But what if we told you there was something we could all agree on? What if we told you there was a scene from after the match one couldn’t help but enjoy, even if enraged at the result? What if we told you that during a postfight interview, Marquez looked like he might have been naked – and if he was naked, he was covering up his nakedness with a sombrero? Because that happened. Proof:

The best part: how nattily Max Kellerman is dressed, with that bow tie. Such class, in contrast to Marquez’ sombrero-over-genitals. Marquez’ look, of course, had infinitely more class. We’re not sure if the boxing world (or the world at large) is ready for this to become any sort of fashion trend…but hey, that probably has a better chance of happening than Marquez ever had of getting a win from the judges last night.

My friend Drew made the comment last night, as we were witnessing that sombrero, that Marquez might have been saying, “Well, Pacquiao just got through letting the judges blow him, I thought it was my turn next.”

That is one really enormous sombrero — big enough to cover the genitals of a much bigger man.
