A North Dakota Hockey Player Throws A Nice Little Tantrum After Being Ejected For This Illegal Hit

College hockey, like high school hockey and the NHL, is doing its best to take headshots and hits from behind out of the game. North Dakota’s Danny Kristo was ejected for just such a hit tonight. And he wasn’t happy about it.

With two Minnesota High School hockey programs recently suffering paralyzing injuries on hits from behind, to Jack Jablonski and female player Jenna Privette (who was playing in a game in support of Jablonski), the area is very sensitive to this type of injury. And when Kristo hit Minnesota’s Ben Marshall from behind into the boards (and followed with a shot to the helmet), officials had no choice but to toss him. Fortunately, Marshall was shaken up but not injured and was able to continue playing.

Watch below as Kristo skates off the ice, uses this headstart to speed-skatewalk towards the locker room, swings his stick against the wall, and serenade the Gophers and the officials.

Again, North Dakota is already sensitive to hits like this. A Brad Malone hit on Denver’s Jesse Martin fractured 3 of his vertebrae, and they lost their captain Chay Genoway when a Willie Marvin (St Cloud State) hit from behind knocked Genoway out for the season with a concussion. Kristo is a skilled forward who isn’t known for cheap shots or dirty hits, but this rivalry game often produces a higher level of intensity.

North Dakota eventually won, 2-1, after getting a goal with under 5 minutes to go. The two teams meet again tomorrow night in Fargo.
