OK, Fine, Here’s The U.S. Swim Team Doing “Call Me Maybe,” Because Apparently People Are Still Watching These Videos

Yeah, “Call Me Maybe” parody videos are old hat (and were old hat already almost two months ago when the Dolphins cheerleaders did theirs), so our first instinct was to react to the video below by saying, “Too late.” But maybe that sentiment’s not as common as we thought. Maybe there was a vast reservoir of people out there who either hadn’t yet seen a “Call Me Maybe” spoof video (which seems inconceivable), or are not yet tired of them.

The latter also seems inconceivable, but nearly 300,000 views in a day since getting uploaded on YouTube doesn’t lie. And we guess that in this case, with the opening ceremonies being tonight, this was the right time for an Olympic team to get noticed. Perhaps “Call Me Maybe” videos are an all-powerful force guaranteed to garner hundreds of thousands of views no matter who posts them, or when, forevermore. Whatever the case may be, eh, looks like they had fun doing this so we can’t hate on it too much. But it’ll be really hard to hate on it if you go out and win a bunch of golds, guys.
