Sports is filled with great finishing moves: Daniel Russo’s Crane Kick, Hulk Hogan’s Leg Drop and now…Ellis Coleman’s Flying Squirrel.
Wrestling for the United States in a quarterfinal match of the FILA Junior World Championships in Hungary, Coleman pulled off an incredible airborne takedown of Iran’s Mehdi Chooli Zeidvand.
Understandably, Zeidvand had no idea what hit him. His coach’s reaction is also priceless, presumably saying, ”Don’t let him jump over your head and slam you to the ground headfirst,” in Farsi.
Despite the move, Coleman lost the first period 3-5 but rallied to win the last two periods and the match. Coleman went on to lose in the semifinals, but took home the bronze by winning his next match. Keep your eye out for Coleman – and hopefully his Flying Squirrel - in the Olympics in years to come.
