Torch Bearer Lady Isn’t That Upset About Getting An “Oylmpic” Tattoo, For Some Reason
Jerri Peterson, a woman from Atlanta, was so excited to be selected as a torch bearer for the London Olympics, she got a tattoo to commemorate it. And now, for the rest of her life, she’ll never forget that she was a “Oylmpic Torch Bearer.” America, ladies and gentleman. America.
Peterson, a hotel employee who “always wanted to have a tattoo but… never quite felt passionate about any one thing to have it put on [her] body permanently” discovered said passion when she was nominated and sent to England to carry the torch through Derby (that’s a city, not a race). She decided that this finally warranted some body ink.
Here’s the result (via BBC):

According to Peterson, she didn’t notice the mistake until she posted a picture online and a friend pointed it out to her. After being (so very rightfully) upset, she has since decided to laugh it off and consider it “unique,” like she is. She even turned down an offer from the tattoo artist, who “felt so bad,” to fix the mistake. Aw.
Finally, at the end of her video interview with the BBC, Peterson said that she gets “plenty of free pints to drink” when she shows off her tattoo in the bars around England. So, this seems to have worked itself out, then. Good times.
