not hate Floyd nor count his money, then you will be able to have a more bias
view of the fight.

I am a Mayweather fan but was very disappointed in his professionalism tonight. Two wrongs don’t make it right. Ortiz was wrong with the head bunt, but Mayweather was wrong in striking Ortiz when the ref was not looking and you can clearly see that Ortiz was extending his apologize. Floyd dished out the correct punishment for a blatant cheap head butt, if you are fair about judging the first three rounds, the same result would have occurred.  One thing that I agree with, Larry Merchant is the worst boxing commentator of all time, how he has kept his job is mind boggling.  Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman are following in Merchants foot steps.  Ortiz could see the writing on the wall, was frustrated and  head butted Mayweather.

Some one explain to me….how hitting some one after the ref said fight a cheap shot? I am no fan of floyd or vic, but I do admit that they are both great fighters. I have followed mayweather since he was 16 and his style and ways are not conventional. However this was a simple mistake on Ortiz’s behalf and mayweather exploited the mistake and legally knocked him out. There is no rule I repeat no rule stating that a ref must be paying attention in order for a boxer to punch his opponent especially once the ref had signaled for the fight to begin. I’m glad I didn’t pay for that fight……I’ve been watching alot of boxing matches over the years….and Mayweather while a legal Sucker Punch….it was a still a sucker punch.

(a) The referee doesn’t see a headbutt mixed in with Ortiz’s flurry and he gets away with it to gain a major advantage. The blow may hurt Mayweather or, at the very least, may disrupt Mayweather calm, calculated demeanor. Maybe an angry Mayweather opens up his guard more allowing Ortiz to catch him.

(b) Same as (a) except he does get caught by Joe Cortez and is penalized a point for the infraction. Considering the eventuality of Scenario 1 if nothing is done, this does not seem like a heavy price.

(c) Mayweather is unable to continue and is awarded a DQ win. Ortiz sows the seed of doubt about what would have happened if the headbutt never happened. Mayweather may give Ortiz a rematch to make him pay. Rematch = another $2.5 million + PPV %.

Mayweather doesn’t know shit about boxing.  A lot of it is about sportsmanship.  Ortiz’s actions after the head but made it clear as day that he felt bad for getting out of control and doing that.
