Rampage Jackson Has An Interesting Way Of Dealing With A Press Conference Stare-Down
Light-heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones and challenger Quinton "Rampage" Jackson are scheduled to headline UFC 135 on Sept. 24 in Denver. General consensus across the board is that Rampage is going to go down, and go down hard.
Jones, who turned 24 on Tuesday, became the youngest champion in UFC history when he captured the title in March. Jackson is 33, and arguably on the downside of his career. After surrendering the title that Jones now owns back in 2008, the most fighting "Rampage" has done has been in that 2010 big-screen adaptation of The A-Team.
But if this press conference is any indication, if Rampage is indeed going down, he's going to do so while trying to make Bones look like an idiot. See below.
The two traded verbal jabs at Tuesday's press conference, with Jackson questioning Jones' legitimacy for winning his title off an injured Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
Jackson: "You fought Shogun when he was rusty as hell. He was off an injury, hadn’t fought for a year, like two knee surgeries."
Jones: "There will always be excuses. I’m sure after our fight I’ll hear, ‘You didn’t fight the Pride Rampage, you fought the movie star Rampage.'"
Jackson: "You’re right, there’s always excuses. There’s a hundred of them. I’ve got like three excuses for every time I’ve lost."
Jones: “You thinking of anything good now?”
Jackson: "I ain’t gonna need no excuses after this fight. You’re gonna need a bunch of ’em."
