Carlos Beltran is a Must-Buy
Okay, when I said Carlos Quentin hits Zack Greinke hard, I didn’t mean or expect that! You want this mound-rushing, bench-clearing nonsense to stop? At least one week if you leave the dugout (similar to the NBA) or for rushing the mound – or you’re out until the pitcher can return if hurt as Greinke was. And I hear you... but then it’s all in the pitcher’s benefit. Nope. If the ump determines intent and the pitcher is tossed, two starts... not this five game junk or what have you when they sometimes don’t even miss a start!
Carlos Beltran, STL – Easily the play of the day. Beltran owns Kyle Lohse, as in Lohse is his personal man servant, placing balls on top of tees so Beltran can mash them in his backyard. Beltran is 22-for-39 with six doubles, four homers and 12 RBI – good for a 1.673 OPS! And he’s just $3,500 on FanDuel! I hope Lohse has a decent benefits package from Carlos.
Daniel Murphy, NYM + Lucas Duda – This duo presents nice value today against Vance Worley. Murph is 10-for-15 and Duda is 5-for-10 and heating up (five hits last three games with two HRs last night). On top of that, both have nice prices with Murphy checking in at $4,100 FD and $4,000 DraftKings, while Duda is $3,500 FD, $3,600 DK.
Alexi Casilla, BAL + Adam Jones – You can go even cheaper with Casilla at 2B, as the man is 12-for-21 lifetime against CC Sabathia. No pop, but a few hits at $2,900 FD or $3,400 DK (where also SS eligible) is not easy to find. Jones meanwhile, was great again last night and is worth your time of trying to get him in your lineup at $4,900 FD, $4,700 DK with a history of 14-for-41 with three HRs against CC. Oh, and he’s just batting .462 with 10 RBI on the season already.
Ian Kinsler, TEX – Kinsler is another player where you may want to find a way to use him if you aren’t comfortable with the Murphy/Casilla route. Kinsler is 4-for-9 against Hisashi Iwakuma, but two of those hits were homers.
Other FanDuel Options (DraftKings lineup below) – Buster Posey $3,500 FD, Placido Polanco $2,500 FD, Jean Segura $3,700 FD
Mike Leake, CIN – Alex Presley 6-for-15, two HRs; Neil Walker 7-for-20, nine RBI; Jose Tabata 7-for-17; Russell Martin 3-for-7; Garrett Jones 9-for-28, six RBI. And that’s all without Andrew McCutchen doing much against him at 6-for-30, who can always catch fire in a game. Don’t look for value with Leake.
Jay Bruce, CIN – Teammate Bruce is someone to avoid, especially when he’ll cost you a pretty penny to start. Bruce is just 2-for-15 against A.J. Burnett with five Ks. He does not see Burnett well... that’s obvious to see (yea, I did just say that).
Matt Wieters, BAL – No need to spend big on Wieters when he’s 5-for-24 against CC Sabathia with eight Ks – especially when Buster Posey is still so cheap on FD... why?! Who cares; it’s to your benefit.
Kendrys Morales, SEA – Few players have it as bad as Morales today. Facing Yu Darvish, Morales is 0-for-13 with eight Ks. Yep. It’s that bad.
Night Games DraftKings Lineup
Jonathon Niese $9,000; Tommy Hanson $9,500; J.P. Arencibia $3,200; Chris Davis $4,000; Daniel Murphy $4,000; Matt Carpenter $3,900; Jean Segura $3,300; Carlos Beltran $4,600; Adam Jones $4,700; Lucas Duda $3,600
Potential Weekend Value Pitchers
Jason Hammel, Clay Buccholz, C.J. Wilson, Trevor Cahill, Jhoulys Chacin
