Chris Davis is on Fire
How fun has this season been already? A day after Yu Darvish nearly pitches a perfect game, we have two walk-off home runs and a 16-inning game on the same day. Meanwhile, if you had Matt Harvey, Paul Maholm and avoided Roy Halladay as I suggested, you had a good day in the daily game.
Rick Porcello, DET – What’s that saying? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... no, more likely 24 times, Rick Porcello... and I could be underselling it. As Mr. Tristan Cockroft and I tweeted yesterday, we’ve both fallen victim to his upside. Well, with a 3.00 ERA and 21 Ks with zero walks in the preseason (24.0 IP), Porcello is intriguing again, especially at $5,400 on FanDuel and $7,000 on DraftKings. Look, he is risky as they get, but for the price, Porcello is one of the best gambles today.
Omar Infante, DET – Mostly because Infante saw a ton of Mike Pelfrey when he was with the Mets, Infante has quite the history of success. He’s 15-for-28 against Pelf with just one strikeout. Infante won’t provide pop for big base totals, but a few solid points with prices of $3,300 FD and $3,200 DK will let you spend big elsewhere.
Chris Davis, BAL – Who knows when the hot streak will end, but for now, you have to go “all in” on Davis. He’s hitting .625 with two homers and seven RBI already. Roberto Hernandez (formerly known as Fausto Carmona) isn’t a pitcher that would make you think twice when using Davis – who also happens to win the matchup as a lefty with Hernandez being a righty.
Pair of Rags
Joe Blanton, LAA – I actually think Blanton can have some deep-mixed and AL-only value, but outside of those standard leagues, why would you think about using him in Cincy today? Especially when Blanton carries a $9,000 tag on DK and $6,300 on FD. Pitchers in his neighborhood or cheaper are Ryan Dempster, A.J. Griffin, Jordan Zimmermann (hello!) and even Miguel Gonzalez. Blanton doesn’t strike out a ton and hasn’t had an ERA under 4.71 the last three years. Again I ask, “Why?!”
Dan Uggla, ATL – Here’s how quickly the daily game changes. I liked Uggla yesterday 0-for-2 with two walks, not terrible, but certainly not good. Things only get worse today. Uggla is 4-for-22 with 10 Ks and 1 BB against Cliff Lee. Stay away, stay very far away.
